Dear STrEaM Families,


This week the calendar turns to August, and a new school year is just around the corner. We are so excited to embark on this journey together for the 8th year at STrEaM Academy! The fall lottery ran and notifications have gone out to all families. Our enrollment is in great shape heading into this school year. 

School schedule

The first day of school is Thursday, August 17th. We will have “welcome week” activities the first two days of school, and start our regular class schedule on Monday, August 21st. 


Our schedule is NOT CHANGING for the 23-24 school year. School will start at 8:00 AM every day, with early release at 12:00 on Wednesdays and 3:00 every other day of the week.

VOLUNTEER FOR ASD: ANCHORAGE STREAM ACADEMY

To volunteer in any ASD school adults must complete the online application annually. We ask that even if there is only the slimmest possibility you may want to volunteer for even one hour the whole year please go ahead and complete this application now. It does take the district several days to approve volunteers. 

STUDENT SUPPLY LIST 

  • One (1) 1.5" Three-ring binder

  • One (1) set of 5 dividers

  • One (1) plain two pocket folder (any color)

  • A few blue or black pens

  • A few sharpened #2 pencils

  • A reusable BPA-free water bottle (write their name on it!)

  • Outdoor gear (WRITE THEIR NAME IN THIS TOO!)

    • jacket (Coat in winter)

    • sneakers or tennis shoes for walking in the parks

    • boots for winter trail walking

  • and finally, a backpack, to carry it all in! (WRITE THEIR NAME IN THIS as well!)

A Note from ‘Friends of Stream’

Thank you to everyone who donated to the 2022-2023 Stream 100 campaign. An official plaque is in production and will be placed in the school soon. The Stream 100 Campaign for 2023-2024 soft start was August 1st. Our official kickoff will be the first week of October.

First TREK: Arctic Valley for all grades

The very first TREK for Anchorage STrEaM Academy students will be our annual visit to Arctic Valley. Please sign the (link) Permission for Arctic Valley. The field trip fee is $10 and can be paid online through ParentConnect; (scholarships are available). 8th Grade going on Tuesday, Sept 12, 2023, 7th Grade going on Thursday, Sept 14, 2023, 6th grade going on Thursday, Sept 21, 2023

After School Activities

X-C Running

Coach Perkins will start cross country running on Monday, August 21st. Stay tuned for more information and the sign-up form. Students will need current physicals and (link) permission forms complete prior to attending any practice. 

23-24 Battle of the Books

Interested in joining the STrEaM Battle of the Books team next year? All 6-8th grade students can get a head start on the book list by clicking this link to print a booklist, we are using the middle school list so look for the section labeled MS in the right column. Read a few over the summer and come back this fall ready to battle. Stay tuned for more club information.
