Dear STrEaM Families,

4th quarter is off to a great start! Amazingly, this is already the last week of March. We’re now into testing season: the State AK Star and Science Assessments begin this week. This week 8th graders are taking the Science assessment on Monday!  See below for the full testing schedule. 

The lottery is open for the 23-24 School Year, and we are actively seeking new students! The lottery closes on April 6th. Apply at https://www.asdk12.org/lottery

STrEaM Academy: Adventure Awaits!

Our annual spring auction is coming! Each advisory will choose a basket theme and collect items for their basket. Please check with your child’s advisor on how you can support this yearly fundraiser for our program! If you have questions contact the President of our nonprofit Jen Mickelson at mickelson_jennifer@asdk12.org

• 8th Grade AK STAR Science Assessment MAKE-UP session

• No Homework Club

3/30 Thursday: B day, Advisory, P. 5-8 

3/31 Friday:  Full Day P. 1-7

On the days that your student has testing, please help them get good rest the night before and a healthy breakfast the morning of. Students may bring a book to read in the testing room after they have finished their test. 

Health Spotlight: Nurse Bethany

One way we can model health in our students is to seek ways to improve our own health. The state of Alaska is offering free health coaching programs for Alaskans who want to lose weight, prevent/manage diabetes, lower blood pressure, and stop smoking. Sign up with Fresh Start programs  and a health coach will contact you, including sending you a scale or blood pressure cuff.
