Dear STrEaM Families,


We have just 5 full weeks of school left. Stay focused and let’s finish strong! There is NO SCHOOL this Friday, April 22nd (STrEaM ONLY) due to the Wayland Baptist spring graduation. It is a professional development day for staff. 


Basket Auction Planning Continues! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these incredible baskets! We are so excited to start the auction for these awesome items and themes. 


We will no longer be providing masks at the front for students as they enter. Our remaining stock of masks will be reserved for students returning to school from COVID, as it is mandatory that they mask for two weeks following quarantine. 

This Week at STrEaM 

Monday 4/18: Full day, periods 1-7

Tuesday 4/19: Block day A, Advisory and P. 1-4

Wednesday 4/20:     #STrEaMwearWednesday

  • AK STAR Make-Up testing

  • 6th Grade to Foothills Park

  • Boxing, Schools Next,  Math Lab after school

Thursday 4/21: 

  • Block day B, Advisory and P. 5-8

  • AK STAR Make-Up testing cont.

Friday 4/22:  

  • NO SCHOOL - WAYLAND GRADUATION

School Dance! 

Our “Spring Fling” school dance is on Wednesday, May 4 in the WBU auditorium!!!  The dance will start during school at 11:15 am; all students will be dismissed to the auditorium during the last 45 minutes of project time.  School-appropriate, formal attire is encouraged.  Students must be present at school to attend the dance.   


Students will be dismissed at the usual Wednesday time of 12:00 unless they have a signed permission form to stay longer: dance permission form to stay after 12:00.  Dance ends at 1:00.  Clean-up 1:00-1:30.  Parent pick-up by 1:30.

Assessment

This week we are wrapping up AK STAR assessments with make-up testing Wednesday and Thursday. We will begin the Spring MAP Assessment next week with students testing on 4/26 & 4/28 (make-ups on 4/29)

Outdoor Lunch

We now have lunch outside every day! Please remind your child to be prepared to eat outside and to bring a cold/sack lunch. Microwave use is limited to emergency situations only- please do not send noodle cups.  On days when the weather is not cooperative we will offer an indoor option for students. 

22-23 Registration and Enrollment

Second lottery is open now, and will close July 21, 2022, Parent notifications will go out July 28, 2022. We have seats in 6th grade, and are seeking female students to balance our 6th grade cohort. Please contact us if you have any questions about the lottery, waitlist, or enrollment. 


Online Registration for our returning students will open on Monday April 25th. 

Who is a returning student? 

  • Currently enrolled students who intend to return next year 

  • Students changing divisions - Elementary to Middle, Middle to High 

  • Students who have moved from one ASD zone to another ASD zone (you will need to provide proof of residency to your new school) 

  • Incoming Kindergarteners who attended an Anchorage School District preschool program

Pre-Enrollment for New to District students will open again on July 15th  2022. 

Who is a New-to District Student? 

  • Students who have never been enrolled in the Anchorage School district before 

  • Students returning after having left the Anchorage School District to attend in another district or state 

  • Incoming kindergartners that did not attend an Anchorage School District preschool program

STrEaM Anchorage 501(c)3 

Second Annual Spring Fundraiser 

The Stream Anchorage 501(c)(3) will host the second annual online basket auction to support Anchorage STrEaM Academy. The online auction will open on May 2 and close May 13. 

• Each advisory class is making a themed basket for the auction. See the video on the front page of the STrEaM website and on the FaceBook Event 

• Basket items deadline have been extended to Wednesday April 20th. Please make sure all items are received in the front office by 3pm.

• Students will bring home flyers/postcards to share with family and friends about how to bid on the auction items.

Academic Policy Committee

The next APC board meeting is Wednesday, May 11th  at 5:30 PM on Zoom and Youtube. Contact us to be on the agenda for public comment.
