The Rapids Report
September 19th, 2022
Dear STrEaM Families,
This week our 6th graders TREK to Arctic Valley! Last week 7th and 8th graders took their trips and greatly enjoyed the hiking and time outdoors. Thank you again to our volunteers who joined us and helped make this annual event a success!
We received a request for support from our neighbors on Old Muldoon, the main road leading into the STrEaM parking lot. They asked that we not block driveways when parked/in line along Old Muldoon waiting to pick students up. Please be conscious of this and do your best not to block driveways. Thank you!

Drop-off and Pick-Up
Please do not block driveways when waiting along Old Muldoon
Pull as far forward as possible before stopping. Please do not stop if there is space in front of you to pull forward. Pulling as far forward as possible reduces traffic back-up
Maintain two lanes: inside lane for pick up/drop off, outside lane for passing and exiting
It is unlawful to be on electronic devices while driving in a school zone
X-C Running
X-C Meet at Beach Lake/ Chugiak this week, on Wednesday at 6:00 PM!

General School Policy reminders
Dress appropriately and for the weather: We go outside every day!
Appropriate and safe behavior is always expected: when we are outdoors and/or off campus, it is especially critical
Students may bring personal electronic devices: our policy is “off and away during the day.” Phones, personal devices and earphones/earbuds/airpods must be put away
Appropriate and safe conduct is especially important outdoors and off-campus: infractions will result in loss of these privileges
All ASD policies as outlined in the student handbook apply to our school
Student Leadership
Bake Sale
The Student Leadership Special will have a table set-up to sell baked goods on Wednesday, September 21 at 11:30-12:30 to raise money for the Fall Dance. We could use a few more bakers. Please contact smith_emily@asdk12.org if you are interested in helping. We would also appreciate your support in purchasing baked goods that day! :)
Next Month: Fall Dance!
During school hours on Wednesday, October 5 in the WBU Auditorium
Students may wear school-appropriate costumes or formal attire
Pizza will be sold at $2/slice.
We welcome snack and drink donations.
Students should bring indoor shoes to dance in safely and a water bottle.
Must be present at school that day to attend.
Only STrEaM students may attend.
All students will attend, but they do not have to dance. One side of the auditorium will have tables and games. A quiet room will be available for those who need it.
Organized by Student Leadership Special. Contact smith_emily@asdk12.org with any questions.
