Dear STrEaM Families,
We hope you’ve enjoyed our first long weekend! It is fall in Alaska, a beautiful time of year. This month we will be outdoors as much as possible, including our annual trips to Arctic Valley. These are special events for our school, a day in the outdoors picking berries, hiking, building community and appreciation for our environment. Our first X-C meet is this week as well- GO RAPIDS!

9/7 Wednesday: Early Release Projects Day. Advisory and PBL, release at 12:00

Enrollment
STrEaM has seats available for 6th grade students! Interested families can call, email or stop by for more information. Please let us know if you need posters, flyers or information to share. Students who refer a student who enrolls with us receive a STrEaM hoodie! #EXPLORERSWANTED
X-C Running
Our first meet is at Service this Friday, at 5:30 PM!

Arctic Valley TREKs
Grade-level groups are heading to Arctic Valley this month! This is our classic STrEaM beginning of the year field trip where students hike, pick berries, and enjoy time in the alpine environment. Electronic permission forms can be found on our school website’s homepage or here. Please complete a permission form for your student asap!
8th Grade - Tuesday 9/13
7th Grade - Thursday 9/15
6th Grade - Thursday 9/22
We need parent chaperones! If you are interested in being a chaperone for one of the above dates or have any questions, please contact gatlin_megan@asdk12.org. We do have a couple volunteers for the 7th & 6th grade TREKs already: Thank you to those volunteers.
There is still room for more and we NEED parent chaperones for the 8th grade. If you have not yet completed the ASD online volunteer application, please do so asap!
Social-Emotional Learning
SEL lessons happen in Advisory on Wednesday each week. Topic this week- Positive Values
General School Policies: Dress Code
Parents/Guardians please help us by making sure that your students are dress appropriately for school and for the weather. Students should be prepared to go outside every day. Students should also be dressed in a manner that does not detract from or disrupt the learning environment. Clothing that is too revealing, promotes violence, gangs, drugs, alcohol or weapons is not allowed. If a student is dressed inappropriately they will be asked to change or cover up and parents shall be notified.
Picture Day
Picture day is Monday, September 12th!
Drop-off and Pick-Up
Pull as far forward as possible before stopping. Please do not stop if there is space in front of you to pull forward. Pulling as far forward as possible reduces traffic back-up.
Maintain two lanes: inside lane for pick up/drop off, outside lane for passing and exiting.
It is unlawful to be on electronic devices while driving in a school zone.
Drive slowly in the neighborhood & watch for pedestrians & bicycles: many of our students walk to and from school.

Academic Policy Committee (APC)
Charter schools are governed by an “Academic Policy Committee” or APC. STrEaM’s APC meets the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 PM. Call or email with any questions! Next APC Meeting is NEXT Wednesday, September 14th.
