General School Policies

  • Everyone who walks through our doors will treat others with dignity and respect.

  • All ASD policies as outlined in the student handbook apply to our school.

  • Students may bring personal electronic devices: our policy is “off and away during the day.”

  • We allow students to wear hats, but ask the hoods be down in the building for safety reasons.

  • Appropriate and safe conduct is especially important outdoors and off-campus: infractions will result in loss of these privileges.

Specials

Students will select their “Special” Thursday afternoon electives during Welcome Week.

Options will include: Yearbook, Ultimate Frisbee, Multiple Intelligences, Lego Wars, Math Art, Photography, Nature Discovery, and Leadership. These change quarterly.

We're excited to start the school year and to work with our amazing families and students. Communication is important to us: call, email or come by if you have questions or need support.

Summer Activities to stay Mentally Healthy

This week, students will be discussing summer plans and goals in their last advisory class. Summertime in Alaska is beautiful, unique, and short! It’s easy for kids to fall into bad habits, which makes it ever so much harder to come back to school in August, so here are some suggestions for your students to stay mentally healthy this summer:

Find a routine

Make a summer bucket list and complete it

Learn how to make your own breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner

Get outside every day, even the rainy ones

Read a book or two or more!

Connect with a friend from STrEaM

Take a hike

Go camping

Go fishing

Enjoy a view

Make a summertime music playlist

Clean out a closet, garage, or shed

Practice a skill like coloring, drawing, playing an instrument or sport, sewing, baking, etc.

Go for a bike ride

Grow a plant or help with yard work

Give back to the community like picking up trash in parks or along sidewalks

22-23 Registration and Enrollment

Second lottery is open now, and will close July 21, 2022, Parent notifications will go out July 28, 2022. We have seats in 6th grade, and are seeking female students to balance our 6th grade cohort. Please contact us if you have any questions about the lottery, waitlist, or enrollment.

Online Registration for returning students opens Monday April 25th.

Who is a returning student?

  • Currently enrolled students who intend to return next year

  • Students changing divisions - Elementary to Middle, Middle to High

  • Students who have moved from one ASD zone to another ASD zone (you will need to provide proof of residency to your new school)

  • Incoming Kindergarteners who attended an Anchorage School District preschool program

Pre-Enrollment for New to District students will open again on July 15th  2022.

Who is a New-to District Student?

  • Students who have never been enrolled in the Anchorage School district before

  • Students returning after having left the Anchorage School District to attend in another district or state

  • Incoming kindergartners that did not attend an Anchorage School District preschool program

Quyana!

Have an awesome summer, getting outdoors and enjoying the best Alaska has to offer.

Mr. Mokelke and Mrs. Biondich will be in the office until early June, and return mid-July. Email any time over the summer and we will likely get back to you.

Chromebook Return

We will be collecting all Chromebooks and chargers the last week of the school year (May 16-19). ASD announced students may keep Chromebooks over the summer: this is not the case for our school

We recognize this is different from ASD procedure for neighborhood schools. We want to ensure we have enough Chromebooks to maintain 1 to 1 when school starts in the fall. If you have specific academic needs for a student Chromebook over the summer, email a request to mokelke_adam@asdk12.org  Thank you for your understanding. As always, contact us with any questions or concerns.
