Emergency Closures
Now that we've had our first emergency closure and held school through remote learning, we hope the process was fairly smooth. Please reach out with feedback on how we structure closures and remote learning.
Each grade level developed emergency closure projects for students. These were sent home as hard copies and are available on Canvas. They will now be updated, extended, or new projects developed, in anticipation of future closures.
Teachers will send an email by 8:00 AM with instructions for parents on projects and a schedule with zoom links. Grade-level teams will host joint zoom check-ins for students at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Projects are designed to be hands-on exploratory activities, not reliant on (but supplemented with) technology.
2023-24 Yearbook Order Today!
Families, there is a Back To School package for sale for the next 5 days! Yearbook Orders will be available until February 23rd! Order here.
Walking to and from school
It is now dark in the morning, and the snow have made walking treacherous. Drivers: be cautious and watch for pedestrians. Parents: please have your child wear bright and/or reflective clothing when walking or biking.
Safety is paramount!
STOPit
STOPit is an anonymous reporting tool designed to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, and other inappropriate behaviors, consisting of an app and a back-end incident management system for school administrators.
Specifically, the program empowers students and families to:
Report at-risk or inappropriate behaviors anonymously
Submit photo or video evidence
Alert designated administrators to issues and risks early, before they escalate
Your child has been educated on the STOPit app so please discuss it with your student. We also encourage your family to explore the district page on STOPit, linked above.
APC (Academic Policy Committee)
The Academic Policy Committee (APC) meets the second Wednesday of every month at 5:30 PM.
The next meeting will be December 13th at 5:30 PM in the Fab Lab at school. Community and parents are always welcome to attend. Please notify us prior to the meeting if you wish to provide public comment.
Food Bank of Alaska Thanksgiving Drive
The Food Bank of Alaska has a barrel in our lobby collecting canned vegetables for their big Thanksgiving food drive. Please ONLY bring VEGETABLES (no beans or fruit or soup) This year the Muldoon location expects to provide 1500 meals to families in 99504. Your generous contribution will help the Food Bank of Alaska continue this tradition.
