RAPIDS REPORT for July 23, 2018
Mr. Mokelke and Ms. Sandy are back in the office for the 2018-19 School Year!
Call, email or stop by between 7:30am and 3:00pm with any questions. Here is an overview of important information for the start of the year.
Registration:
Please remember that even if your student is returning to ASD you MUST register them for the school year. Registration online is currently open for returning students from 7/9 - 8/24. Please do this as soon as possible so that we can make sure your student is scheduled. If your student is new to ASD, Ms. Sandy will be contacting you regarding enrollment.
Important upcoming dates and events:
- Lottery closes this Thursday, July 26th at 5 PM. Apply at https://lotapp.asdk12.org/apply/
- Mr. Mokelke out of the office for meetings on 7/24, 7/30 and 7/31. Ms. Sandy is out 7/27 for training.
- Teachers return for professional development in Project-Based Learning with the Buck Institute on August 13th.
- Tentative Back to School night: August 16th
- FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL MONDAY AUGUST 20th
Schedule:
The regular school day will be 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Drop off may begin at 7:30, and students must be picked up by 3:30 PM. Early release is still on Wednesdays, at 12:00. After school options are in the works.
Monday and Friday will now be full schedule days, periods 1-6 and elective. Tuesday and Thursday are "block days." Tuesday will be periods 1-3 and elective, Thursday is periods 4-6 and advisory. Wednesday starts with advisory, then blocks of project time.
Supplies:
We ask only for basic school supplies including a backpack, 3-ring zip binder, pocket folders, paper and pencils & pens, and 4 composition books. However, we go outside every day! Students must have appropriate clothing and footwear for daily outdoor activity! We also recommend students bring a Chromebook or laptop: all our teachers use Google Classroom, so many assignments are done and submitted online.
Volunteers:
Support needed for lunch supervision, lobby supervision before and after school, and study hall or student activities on Wednesdays after 12:00. Please contact Ms. Sandy or Mr. Mokelke to volunteer your time.
Much more information to come as we get closer to the start of the school year. We are excited for our 3rd year and great things to come!
